ADHD and Autism

ADHD is a disorder typically associated with people who have a hard time paying attention to things. Symptoms include kids who have a hard time paying attention in class, people losing their belongings, and people wo have a hard time sustaining mental effort. 

Autism is a disorder characterized by people who struggle socially with communication and interaction. People with autism often display unique motor & verbal behaviors and have sensory issues. Autism is diagnosed in people by a professional that considers whether the characteristics cause significant challenges in daily life beyond what is typically expected for someone. 

How ADHD and Autism Coincide

Statistically, people with ADHD are significantly more likely to be autistic and vice versa. ADHD & autism share similar characteristics, including inattention, atypical movements, and social struggles. Both are neurodevelopmental disorders that affect brain function.

Depression and Anxiety

Depression is a disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and lost of interest. Some characteristics of depression are low self-esteem, persistent sadness, and lost of interest in typical activities. 

Anxiety is an emotion characterized by fear of what is going to happen next. If there’s persistent anxiety, one may have generalized anxiety disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder is where someone has frequent anxiety that affects daily life. Characteristics include low self-esteem, insecurity, and negative thoughts.
